Sony Announces Battery Powered Smartphone Power Supplies

Sony has announced a pair of USB portable power supplies designed to keep your smartphone battery alive in times of need. Sony says that the CP-A2LS and CP-ELS are ideal for travelers, mobile professionals – or anyone who can’t afford to be without power on the move. Light and easy to carry, both chargers make topping up your smartphone as easy as plugging into your computer’s USB port or AC plug. The portable charger CP-A2LS packs uses a 4000 mAh capacity battery to power an average smartphone for up to two recharges of your smartphone’s battery. You connect the Sony charges to your phone via the included micro-USB cable or your smartphone’s original USB charging cable. Sony also offers the CP-ELS, which is a smaller version with a 2000 mAh capacity battery. The new CP-A2LS and CP-ELS Portable power supply chargers by Sony are available from the beginning of November 2011. The Sony CP-A2LS is shown below.

 When it’s time to recharge, simply attach the battery charger CP-A2LS to its supplied AC input module for quick charging via the nearest mains socket. When you’re done, detach the AC input module and slip the CP-A2LS into a pocket or bag for instant power whenever it’s needed. A low self-discharge rate means both models retain ~80% of their initial charging level after 12 months, cutting the risk of being left powerless at the wrong moment.
