Corsair Graphite 600T White Special Edition 2011 Case+Mid-Tower Size, Full-Tower Features

Corsair Graphite 600T

Corsair not too long ago was known only for its superb enthusiast memory in the DRAM market. Corsair is now a company that has been consistently expanding its product base in recent history. One of the products that Corsair has expanded into is the PC case business and it's a market segment where they have been quickly feared by other companies. The Graphite Series introduced the world to Corsair’s placement into the mid-tower PC case category.
Legit Reviews published a review on the Corsair Graphite Series 600T mid-tower PC case back in September, 2010 and Shane Higgins found the Corsair 600T to be a solid case. When the Corsair 600T was first released it was only available in black and as we all know black has been in style for years, but is starting to get boring. Corsair recognized this and has 'refreshed' the 600T in order to bring out a Special Edition White case that looks pretty stunning with a mixture of white and black bezels. The Special Edition white also comes with a hole in the side panel that you can insert either a window or mesh panel into. Both panels are included, which is a nice touch as you can change it when your needs change down the road. The MSRP for the special edition white model is $179.99, which is $20 more than the standard black 600T model that has an MSRP of $159.99. Luckily, most vendors are selling these two cases for slightly below MSRP.  We were able to find the 600T Black for $151.99 shipped and the 600T Special Edition White for$168.64 shipped at Amazon.com. Having to spend an extra $16 in order to get a different color and the window/mesh insert in the side panel is more than fair in our books.

At first glance the 600T is feature rich and a good value for the functions available. One featured item to look at is the warranty of the item. Corsair includes a two year warranty standard with the Graphite Series 600T. Corsair claims the two year warranty has world class customer service and technical support. Novice PC builders with a good understanding and experience may not need the support but it is a nice peace of mind if ever needed.
Price point, style, cooling versatility and functionality should allow the Graphite Series 600T Special Edition to be of interest to a wide number of users. The Special Edition upgrades style from the original 600T with a side panel that includes a clear or mesh siding that all is included in the box. Advanced PC builders will be excited to know that water cooling is an option, or up to four 200mm case fans. The case is roomy and the claim by Corsair that this is a mid-tower case with full-tower features is very much the truth. Below are more features that Corsair claims directly from the product's website.

Building a Great-Looking, High Performance System Has Never Been Easier
The Graphite Series 600T makes it easy to build a world-class gaming system. With excellent cooling from the dual 200mm fans, eight PCI-E expansion slots to accommodate multiple graphics cards, and plenty of room for large, power-hungry components, the Graphite Series 600T can handle just about anything you can throw at it.
Mid-Tower Size, Full-Tower Features
The Graphite Series 600T is a mid-tower in height, but inside it’s positively cavernous. Easily accommodate even the longest graphics cards in the industry due to the reconfigurable hard drive bays. The increased space behind the motherboard tray allows clean, uncluttered cable routing. Up to six hard drive caddies, each of which can accommodate SSDs and standard mechanical disks, sit below the four 5.25" tool-free optical drive bays. If that weren’t enough, you can remove the top panel 200mm fan and install a 240mm radiator and dual 120mm fans for a quick watercooling upgrade. The Special Edition White 600T also includes a new custom side panel with a cutout for a window (pre-installed) or included mesh insert with room for up to four 120mm fans for even more outrageous cooling!
Features for Builders
Corsair innovated cable routing with the Obsidian Series cases, and the Graphite Series features the same ingenious design. Pre-cut holes in the motherboard tray with rubber grommets and plenty of room behind the motherboard to route cables for a clean, uncluttered interior. The optical drive bays are tool-free, the side panels easily detach with the built-in latch mechanisms, and the integrated fan controller allows you to choose between quiet operation or maximum cooling performance.
Features include
  • Twin 200mm cooling fans with white LEDs for excellent cooling
  • Side panel with cutout for window AND mesh with room for four 120mm fans — both included!
  • Eight expansion slots provides you flexibility for multiple graphics card solutions
  • Unique cable routing holes guarantees you a clean and clutter-free installation
  • Integrated fan controller, for up to four fans, gives you the choice of noise vs. performance
  • Tool-free optical drive installation makes building your system faster than ever
  • CPU backplate cutout makes upgrading your CPU heatsink easy
  • 2.5” and 3.5” hard drive compatibility for up to 6 drives — straight out of the box!
  • Two year warranty with Corsair’s world-class customer service and technical support
  • Available April 2011
About The Graphite Series
The Graphite Series provides full-tower features in a mid-tower sized case, with an emphasis on performance and style. Whether you are an expert or on your first build, the Graphite Series is designed from the ground up to provide you with an incredible building experience. The Graphite Series proves that a high-performance case can be highly functional and look good doing it.

Installing Components

First thing I have to say is this case is designed for cable management. Anywhere there is a cable or wire there is a port to manage the cabling. All cabling runs through the back plate and nicely to its destination. The wire routing may have added a few extra minutes to assembling a PC but it is well worth it. No more than a half hour would be needed to completely assemble the case for a novice.

The two 200mm case fans have a nice white light emanating to showcase what is inside. With the window side of the case on the contents of the box are easily seen. This is not just a good look for the gamer but also elegant for other environments.

Corsair claims this is a full tower case in a mid-tower form. For a video card this sure is true. The default configuration for a video card of 12 inches can be installed. Half of the sectional hard drive cage can be removed to up this size to 18 inches.

There were a couple of small caveats that I had with the case. The speed control for the case fans came with four wires. These wires are male two pin with a three pin female connection. There does not seem to be a traditional three pin Molex connection. I decided to give the 1-800-222-4346 a call. The number had an automated answer that states, “You have entered an invalid telephone number.” The manual did not have directions for this feature. I suggest that Corsair should have this number checked and a little more directions on the power cabling of this case.
Corsair contacted me with1414in 48 hours by email with the solution for the fan that can be found here.
